Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Assistant Director - Pancreatic Cancer Program.

In this role, the successful candidate Partner with Pancreatic Cancer Center, Liver Tumor Program leadership, Perlmutter Cancer Center and NYU Langone Health leadership to provide administrative leadership, develop programmatic strategy, and integrate clinical, research and educational Pancreatic and Liver Cancer activities at the NYU Langone Manhattan, Brooklyn and Long Island campuses and ambulatory facilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with cross-mission strategic planning for the Pancreatic Cancer Center and Liver Tumor Programs. Develop comprehensive business and operational plans and ensure successful implementation of these plans with the Pancreatic Cancer Center and Liver Tumor Program leaders, in collaboration with Perlmutter Cancer Center leadership.
  • Produce routine reports of productivity measures to monitor and internally communicate the success of Pancreatic Cancer Center and Liver Tumor Program activities. Routinely review quality and performance metrics for these activities to monitor performance improvement activities. Meet with faculty and staff routinely to affect quality and ensure performance targets are met across campuses and ambulatory facilities
  • Partner with the Pancreatic Cancer Center and Liver Tumor Program leadership, Perlmutter Cancer Center leadership, and NYU Langone Health senior leadership to implement a model for the management and care coordination of pancreatic and liver cancer patients across the NYU Health Langone System. Partner with Perlmutter Cancer Center clinical leadership on clinical operational initiatives and overarching research strategies for the centers.
  • Assist with oversight of the financial performance of the Pancreatic Cancer Center and Liver Tumor Program in partnership with Perlmutter Cancer Center finance leadership. Conduct routine analyses to identify opportunities to decrease costs and enhance revenue. Develop and lead, with internal resources, complex market analysis to drive program development, identify opportunities to expand patient referrals, and continually improve market share and national reputation.
  • In conjunction with Perlmutter Cancer Center leadership, the NYU Langone Health Faculty Group Practice (FGP), and the Strategy, Planning, & Business Development department, build a comprehensive referring physician outreach program to include: design of a system for tracking referrals and to maintain a physician contact database, create mechanisms to streamline communication about patient care between care providers and referring physicians, teach Pancreatic Cancer Center and Liver Tumor Program medical physicians and surgeons techniques to improve outreach and communication practices, direct contacts for referring physicians and expediters for new referrals, conduct ongoing analyses to identify physician practices and other providers to target for outreach visits, and coordinate outreach visits for Pancreatic Cancer Center and Liver Tumor Program physicians and staff.
  • Provide guidance to the clinical and research directors of the Pancreatic Cancer Center and Liver Tumor Program and staff members to implement operational/workflow efficiencies to maximize resources during program growth, while maintaining compliance with all state and federal regulations and optimizing financial performance.
  • In conjunction with marketing and communication teams, identify opportunities for promotion of the Pancreatic Cancer Center and Liver Tumor Program, including speaking engagements at international and national conferences, advocacy group seminars, and other venues, as well as hosting multidisciplinary regional and national educational conferences with larger catchment of external attendees.
  • Work with NYU Langone Marketing and Perlmutter Cancer Center Communications to create materials highlighting innovations and quality for local, regional and national distribution. Serve as central point person for all patient educational materials to ensure that all Pancreatic Cancer Center and Liver Tumor Program external material has a consistent and high quality look/brand.
  • Organize forums for Pancreatic Cancer Center and Liver Tumor Program leadership and team communication including annual retreats, quarterly program strategic planning meetings, and reporting up to NYU Langone Health senior leadership.
  • Work with Development to identify and secure new philanthropic opportunities of Pancreas and Liver Cancer Clinical Care and Research.
  • Interact with administrative counterparts in relevant NYU SoM departments, including the basic sciences and clinical departments to maximize trans-disciplinary participation in the Pancreas Cancer Center and Liver Tumor Program.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree and 7+ years of experience in an academic health care environment, with a proven track record of leading interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations and with progressively responsible experience managing administrative functions in a clinical setting, including finance, operations and staff management.
  • 1 year of management experience required.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, written and verbal communication skills required. The ability to develop and implement policies and procedures and interact with and communicate to a variety of individuals at all levels will be required.
  • Strong leadership potential and ability to successfully interact with NYULH executive management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree and 10 or more years of experience in an academic health care environment, with a proven track record of leading interdisciplinary and cross-institutional collaborations and with progressively responsible experience managing administrative functions in a clinical setting, including finance, operations and staff management.
  • Preferred experience includes EPIC, grants management, and budget report administration.
