Position Summary:


We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Education Specialist-IRB.



Summary:The Educational Specialist is responsible for working with Cochlear Implant candidates, their families and the appropriate educational learning facility/team to maximize outcomes for patients and their families. The Educational Specialist will work with Audiologist, Faculty, education team and staff to establish and schedule the care plan.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and evaluates education records submitted for possible cochlear implant candidates.
  • Discuss with school personnel and family their readiness to receive an implanted child.
  • Discuss educational options, communication methodology and childs learning style.
  • Visit the school to provide suggestions and strategies to facilitate the development of auditory and oral language skills.
  • Establish working relationship with the school and build positive and ongoing communication between the implant center and the school.
  • Provides support to parents.
  • Recommends appropriate placement and support services to include positive training workshops.
  • Develops professional workshops and training, to meet the needs of the professionals in public schools, where applicable.
  • Maintain regular communication between implant center, patient (and their family), and the school professionals.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Work as a functional member of the Cochlear Implant Team and Department.Attend staff meetings as requested.
  • Maintain professional demeanor at all times with physicians, co-workers and patients. Responsible for any other duties as stipulated by an Executive Leadership member of the Department, including but not limited to the Department Chairman or the Department Administrator.
  • Ensure service excellence by becoming familiar with the seven principles of behavior and putting them into practice in carrying out job responsibilities.
  • HIPAA Conform to all applicable HIPAA compliance and safety guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Education.
  • Teacher of the Deaf.
  • Three-five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Auditory Verbal background. Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to work independently and takes initiative to assist in improving overall office operations. Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Computer experience with Word, Excel, Power Point, and outlook e-mail.
