Expertise & skills

Mark Katz, Senior Technology leader with 20+ years’ experience in various industry sectors— including several Blue Chip companies in the Finance industry, and in Insurance, Media, and Pharmaceutical companies—is best known for the kind of visionary leadership and relationship building which unites diverse stakeholders. With a record of executing successful large-scale digital transformations while cultivating positive cultural changes even in the most challenging environments, Mr. Katz has proven time and again that genuine partnerships and consistent communication at all levels are key ingredients to sustainable change. Indeed, he is known in the industry as the “Voice of Truth” for his transparency, honesty and integrity. Currently, Mr. Katz works on the Executive Team at RYLTI--a series B Funded Startup. He performs multiple roles in Advisory, Project Management, and Business Development, primarily focusing on Project Delivery and Risk Quantification. RYTLI uses a proprietary Biomimetic-based AI cloud-based platform to capture the maximum royalty matching data for rightsholders. Mr. Katz serves as a Senior Principal at HP Marin Group, a consultancy providing CIO Advisory services to companies in Financial Services, Insurance, Manufacturing, and Media. Prior to HP Marin, Mr. Katz served as Chief Information Officer to ASCAP, a not for profit performing rights organization providing music licensing and royalty distributions to 750K members. Here he became the first CIO in the U.S. to implement Open Space Agile and earned a CIO 100 Award for developing a state-of-the-art performance matching system that drove 600% performance gains. In addition, he spearheaded a major restructuring initiative that cut $3M in costs. As an executive, Mr. Katz rejects siloed operational practices in favor of business-aligned collaboration and a multidisciplinary approach to solutions. His emphasis on continual learning, open communication, and personal development engages business leaders and technical teams to unite in achieving success even during tough transitions. Mr. Katz credits his ability to partner with business leaders, define clear goals, and develop all-star teams partly to management training at Chemical Bank early in his career. It was here he gained foundational experience in all aspects of business operations and solid leadership, while also discovering his love of data and automation. This hunger for learning and desire to gain a deep perspective surrounding both business and technical innovation ultimately led to a series of successes. Early on at Société General Cowen, he led his team to reestablish a real-time trading environment in New York in the absolute record time of only 6-days post 9-11 devastation. Later, he spearheaded an IPO carve out of XL Capital to Syncora Guarantee as the first CIO for XL’s Financial Products and Services Division. Within only 7 months he’d built an entirely new team from the ground up. Mark holds Masters’ degrees from The University of Chicago and Columbia University as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY Binghamton University. He is also a technology thought leader and published author with articles appearing in Financial Technology Today and Forbes and is a CIO speaker at various industry events.
